Malaysia and South Korea Nabs Somalis Pirates

Captive Photo of Somali PiratesMalaysia and South Korea has successfully seized Somalis Pirates in a second dramatic raid near African coast. Three pirates were wounded during the raid and 23 crew members being rescued on the gunbattle between the two parties.

The operation was happened on the same day the South Korean commandos raid. The commandos freed a hijacked freighter who was sailing on the way to Oman under the company of a South Korean destroyer.

The Malaysia’s navy sent a ship and helicopter to the Bunga Laurel, 22 kilometers away, when the crew members send a signal after they locked themselves in a safe room. Fortunately, the security forces overpower the pirates after they managed to board the ship and exchange gunfire with the pirates.

According to Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, there were seven pirates that have been caught and they are now considering if they are going to bring them to have a court trial.

“I am proud of our (navy), which acted with full efficiency and demonstrated courage,” Najib said.

Captive Photo of Somali PiratesThe raid made by the South Korea had wounded their captain Seok Hae-gyun, who was being shot by one of the pirates in the stomach. Commandos of South Korea had killed eight pirates and captured the other five.

South Korea is now deciding whether they are going to bring the five captured pirates to Seoul for prosecution or hand them over to countries near Somalia.

Since 1991, Somalia Government is in disfunction; and there are about 29 vessels and 703 hostages being held by pirates off their country.

Now, other country prepared their special forces to launch raids to save their ships boarded by Somali pirates.
