Caught between the demands of the alliance and IMF, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani finally wins heart of MQM, one of its major alliance party in the province of Sindh.  MQM which is the ruling party in Karachi, Sindh has now decided to rejoin the Pakistan People Party which is the party of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani. This rejoin of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)  follows the walk out conducted by MQM recently.

The walk out comes as a result of intense situation of the country. The country could not even withstand the disaster of flood until the case of governor Salman Taseer (–foul word(s) removed–)(–foul word(s) removed–)ination came up. MQM withdrew the consent to act as a parliamentarian after an increase in oil and fuel. The PM Gillani’s order created a hype of disinterest in the country. MQM rejected the order and finally withdrew the consent. This created a further gap in the alliance of the major ruling party of the country. Pakistan People party (PPP) had previously lost Pakistan Muslim League (PML) as an ally and now the loss of MQM’s coalition had posed a serious question for the Prime Minister.

The other side of the coin tells a different story. IMF and the U.S have supported the increase in the price. The 11 billion loan is an enormous hurdle in Pakistan’s policy making and coalition. The PM is confused between the alliance and IMF loan.

But with a big heart to welcome the alliance, the PM has chosen not to disappoint MQM. The oil and fuel prices that were raised as a result of international market has now been brought back to their original prices. The rise in prices has been reduced back finally and has helped the government to rejoin hands.

The Prime Minister decided to meet MQM on Friday to extend hands under tense conditions. The party workers shed rose petals on Prime Minister’s car on Friday at Karachi. PM Gillani’s U-turn has been criticized but the situations within the country has observed to settle down.

The situations became tense when a liberal influential governor was shot with 27 bullets in the Capital. But the analyst still question the tenure of this rejoin. Another important factor influencing the current situation that analyst await is the actual intend of MQM when speaking rejoin. Politics in Pakistan has been changing rapidly.

Although PPP has not achieved the perfect alliance, yet the re-addition of MQM gives some hope to the government. The arrival of PM Gillani has been whole heartedly accepted by MQM at Karachi but the real intentions for such an alliance when the government is at stake is still a question for many.
