Is Roy Hodgson the right man for Liverpool?

Pressure is mounting on Roy Hodgson with each p(–foul word(s) removed–)ing day. Performances of Liverpool this season has been below par and so far this season they have struggled for any type of consistency. 2010 was one of the worst years for the club as Liverpool secured only two away victories all year.

Roy Hodgson was given the post of manager at Liverpool in July 2010 with a view to steady the clubs difficult times but it has proved to be a wrong decision so far as he has been unable to get the team back on track. His signings of Christian Poulsen and Paul Konchesky has been criticized by Liverpool supporters.  Moreover, their inability to perform at the highest level has led fans to criticize both players on a m(–foul word(s) removed–) scale as Paul Konchesky was booed of the pitch when he was substituted during the defeat against Wolves.

Roy Hodgson has also criticized fans about not giving their support to team in difficult times. However, it is very important to note that fans do support their teams when they play well and it hasn’t been the case with Liverpool this season. Team has been playing clueless football for most of the times. Star players like Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard and Joe Cole have not been performing at all.

Although, Liverpool signed 6 major players in the summer transfer window but all of them have failed to live up to the expectations. Serbian international Milan Jovanovic has failed to get games after a run of 5 consecutive matches at the start of the season. Joe Cole has suffered from injuries and suspensions while Christian Poulsen, Paul Konchesky and Danny Wilson have all failed to help the team. The only beacon which Liverpool fans have seen is the form of Raul Merelies who was brought in from FC Porto in summer transfer window.

So Roy Hodgson along with the players need to do something quick if they want to save their season otherwise its getting too late for a club like Liverpool to be in such league position and they get a perfect opportunity today when they face Bolton at Anfield.
