Fishermen Happy But Disappointed On Scarborough Access
Filipino fishermen were happy on Scarborough Shoal access but somehow disappointed due to China’s conditions on the rich fishing ground.
During the state visit of President Rodrigo Duterte in China last week, the issue about the Scarborough Shoal or Bajo de Mansiloc was discussed. Chinese hosts grant the access of Filipino fishermen in the shoal but conditions were given.
Charlito Maniago said that they see hope now upon Duterte’s discussion with China regarding the disputed waters. Maniago is the barangay chairman of the fishing village of Cato in Infanta town, which is the home of 30 fishing boats that frequently fishing at the Panatag Shoal.
However, Jowe Legaspi, Cato barangay councilman was a little bit disappointed due to the conditions which given by China to the Filipino fishermen in Scarborough access.
