Bucayu Denies Stopping CIDG From Raiding New Bilibid Prison

Former BuCor Chief Bucayu also denied receiving payola from the inmates inside the New Bilibid Prison.

Former Bureau of Customs (BuCor) chief Franklin Bucayu strongly denied the allegations that he has received drug money from the inmates inside the New Bilibid Prison.

In his appearance on the third hearing of the House committee on Justice on the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison, Bucayu emphasized that he has never received payola from the so-called Bilibid inmates.

He also reiterated that the statements of Philippine National Police (PNP) Deputy Chief for Operations Director Benjamin Magalong regarding his alleged stopping of the conduct of Oplan Cronus at the NBP in 2014 were false and fabricated.

According to Bucayu, he had no ample power to block the said operation.

He said that his only concern that time was the careful implementation of the plan to transfer the high profile inmates to the Maximum Security Compound of the national penitentiary.

Aside from this, he was also worried of the legality of transferring the inmates who are dubbed as the “Bilibid 19”.
