Filipina Navy Officer – A Filipina Naval Officer named Maycee Angga was recognized by the Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC) as the Best International Student among the 131 naval officers during a passing-out parade at the British Royal Navy in Dartmouth, UK, August 11.

In a report by Manila Bulletin, Angga was the only female international student in a batch coming from the Bahamas, Albania, Egypt, Libya, Qatar, UK, Ukraine, and the United Arab Emirates whom she surpassed.

As verified by the Philippine Navy and the UK Government, Angga made history by becoming the first Filipino to attend and finish the 30-week training course which started in January 4 at the BNRC.

The Philippine Embassy was represented by Consul Rommel Romato during the passing-out-parade. He also brought the congratulatory message of Philippine Ambassador to the UK Evan Garcia to Maycee Angga.

Vice Admiral Jonathan Woodcock OBE, Second Sea Lord and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, was the guest of honor during the said ceremony in UK.

Part of the intensive training is a study visit to France, plus a three-week ship acquaint where the Filipino was assigned to HMS Bulwark, an amphibious assault ship patrolling the waters of the UK territory.

Britannica Royal Naval College was established in 1863 in Dartmouth, England and became the initial training ground for the British Royal Navy.

Most of the cadets from the Royal Navy, the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, and other naval organizations from foreign and Commonwealth nations.
