Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is now offering free foreign language courses and training for those who would like to work abroad.

According to Atty. Teodoro Pascua, Deputy Director General for TESDA operations, the skills development agency is now offering English, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Arabic, and Spanish courses.

Based upon the report of ABS-CBN News, the Japanese language training will last for three weeks or approximately 150 hours while the remaining courses will last for two weeks or 100 hours only.

Language cl(–foul word(s) removed–) will start at exactly 7:30 am until 11:30 am and will resume at 12:30 pm  until 4:30 pm, from Monday to Friday.

Pascua added that aside from teaching their prospects with basic foreign language, their personnel/instructors will also discuss culture of respective language.

TESDA has a total of 35 sites or learning centers in the country where applicants can enroll. Schedule for foreign language training have been posted on the learning centers.

TESDA stated that those who like to enroll must be 18-years-old and above and preferably High School graduate and must bring the following requirements; birth certificate, school record, 3pcs 1×1 photo and 1pc 2×2 photo.

“Binibigyan namin ng priority ang nakatakda nang umalis at pangangailangan ang lengguwahe sa kanyang trabaho,” Pascua said noting applicants must bring with them their contract for prioritization.

“Bound din kami sa rules ng government. Ang talagang requirement sa government, Monday to Friday and anything beyond that is overtime. E hindi naman dapat overtime ang regular teaching,” Pascua explained.

TESDA will analyze how to accommodate those who would like to enroll in the said courses but are working at night or weekends.

“Filipinos are able to adapt to languages, in the same way that they are able to adapt to certain cultures,” Pascua affirmed.

  2. Is this free or charge? With no hidden charges po? Or do we have to pay the training centers? Or Tesda will be the one covering it?
