A video of Mar Roxas speaking in front of the people of Davao City is currently making the rounds online. In the said video which was unspecified on what particular date it was taken, Mar Roxas was clearly seen praising Davao City’s achievement and Mayor Duterte’s good governance of the city. The former DILG Secretary also supports Mayor Duterte’s call for a Federal Philippines.

Although there is no clear indication about the exact date when the video was taken, but one thing is certain, the speech of the former DILG Secretary occurred before Mayor Rodrigo Duterte changed his mind about running for the presidency and go against the more powerful and prominent national politicians.
During Mar Roxas speech he stated that Davao City “has always been known for having a clear set of rules, these rules are steadfastly, reliably and consistently applied. You know exactly what is good citizenship and bad citizenship.”
The Liberal Party standard bearer also believes that the Philippines can benefit from the experience of Davao City with the kind of leadership that Mayor Rodrigo Duterte provides.
Mar Roxas also agrees with Mayor Duterte’s call for a Federal Form of Government in the Philippines. He was quoted as saying “I think the call for federalism is providing an alternative solution to a problem. It is not necessarily an end goal in itself. I think the problem is that we ought to more infrastructure spending, more social services spending, more business connectivity and interconnectivity and more enterprise promotion and so on and so forth.”
