Manila Bulletin Earns the Ire of Netizens for Misleading Photo of Davao Traffic

The city of Davao headed by Mayor Duterte for a very long time is considered as a model city in the Philippines and even dubbed as the safest city in the country. But what will happen if someone from the mainstream media post an intriguing and malicious post about some problems that exist in other parts of the country but not in Davao.

Manila Bulletin

The Manila Bulletin, one of the country’s most trusted and longest-running newspaper with nationwide circulation, got the ire of netizens especially those who were supporters of Mayor Duterte and the residents of Davao City for the misleading photo that compared Davao City to the heavily trafficked EDSA.

Although the image was originally posted on September 9, 2015, it caught the attentions of most netizens just recently after it was updated and the original photo was replaced with a new one but with the same caption.

The photo had the following caption “McArthur Highway in Davao City is not spared from the horrendous traffic condition that has also struck Metro Manila as could be seen in this photo taken near Quimpo Blvd. Lack of discipline among drivers and the sheer volume of vehicles have been initially pinpointed as the major cause for this logjam in the city.”

As an evidence that the photo was indeed not in Davao City, one netizen apparently from Davao City debunks the photo by giving his reasons. The netizen noted that there is no yellow taxi in Davao City, the Quimpo Blvd. is not a six-lane highway, the bus picture resembles not the kind of bus plying the routes of Davao City.

Here’s Some Photo Evidence Debunking the Traffic in Davao City:
