Mayor Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte, the tough-talking mayor of Davao City clarifies that his running mate in the 2016 national elections is no other than Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano. Mayor Rody Duterte clarifies that Sen. Cayetano is his Vice Presidential candidate after reports surfaced that Sen. Bongbong Marcos welcomed a possible tandem with him.
The newest candidate to declare his intention to run for President, Mayor Duterte made the declaration about his Vice President following Sen. Marcos’ statement that he is welcoming Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III’s statement that their political party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) is considering Marcos as a running mate of Duterte.
According to Sen. Pimentel, the Cayetano-Duterte tandem is not yet finalized as some PDP-Laban members want Sen. Marcos to be Duterte’s running mate. However, he said, Cayetano tops the list of the possible vice presidential bet of Duterte.
Mayor Duterte on his part noted that he is not discussing a tandem with Sen. Marcos since the senator is already Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago’s running mate.
Although Mayor Duterte already declared Sen. Cayetano as his running mate in the 2016 national elections, some of Mayor Duterte’s supporters and campaign managers welcomed the possibility of anyone who will be paired with Mayor Duterte.
