Ph Documentary on South China Sea Angers China

The then viral documentary on South China Sea released by the Philippines has reached China.

China then accused Philippines on Monday for spreading misinformation and “creating the illusion of the victim” in their dispute over the controversial South China Sea.

Manila has then released a three-part documentary defending its position on the disputed sea.

“Karapatan sa Dagat” or marimite rights was released on June 12, the first part of the series.

Foreign Minsitry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in a statement the Philippines is “attempting to mislead and deceive” to gain sympathy.

The rift between Manila and Beijing over the disputed South China sea have escalated in the recent months as each shown firm position.

Earlier, the Chinese official has also accused Philippines of trying to draw other countries into the issue following joined military drills conducted by the Philippines with US and Japan.

Philippines, meanwhile, has explained that the documentary was intended to inform its people and to rally public support behind government policies and actions.

China, however, in the disputed sea to which Philippines and other countries have overlapping claims continue building artificial islands.

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said earlier that if China would stop fighting back over the South China Sea, it would shame its ancestors.
