One Direction Concert Promoter Ordered by Immigration to Post Cash Bond

The highly anticipated concert of the world’s most popular boy band One Direction will be conducted in the Philippines this coming March 21 and 22, 2015. Before the concert of One Direction, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) has ordered the promoter to post a cash bond as a requirement before they can issue a Special Work Permit (SWP) to perform in the country.

According to Bureau of Immigration Spokesperson Elaine Tan, the order to post bond is a condition “intended to protect the public interest should the band members commit any violation during their stay in the Philippines.”

The Bureau of Immigration noted that “the band will be prevented from performing during the scheduled concert dates on March 21 and 22, 2015 should the producer fail to post the cash bond prior to those dates.

The BI issued the order  pursuant to the request by the Laban ng Pamilyang Pilipino Inc. (ADA), who stated that there should be strict scrutiny of applicants who for Special Working Permit  especially those people who are allegedly involved in some illegal activities.

One Direction members Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, though the concert producer, were directed to post bonds of P200,000 each, which shall be forfeited in case they commit any immigration violation.
