The Philippine National Government declared February 25, 2015 as a Special Holiday exclusively for students all over the country. The declaration of holiday is in accordance with Proclamation 831, which Pres. Aquino signed the declaration on July last year. The Department of Labor and Employment also released the Holiday Pay Rules for the EDSA holiday.
According to President Aquino in a statement earlier, he noted “restored and ushered political, social, and economic reforms in the country” and that it “serves asn an inspiration to Filipinos worldwide as a nation and as a people.”
The national government already declared February 25, 2015 as a special non-working holiday, since its a special non-working holiday just like in previous years, it means that the occasion won’t mean much for employees in public and private sector.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) stressed that February 25 is considered ans an ordinary workday, this means that no premium is required to be paid for work on the said day.
DOLE added further that “employees in private schools, whether academic or administrative personnel, shall be paid in accordance with the rules for pay on special nonworking days.”
