The film outfit of ABS-CBN, Star Cinema earned more than P2 billion in box office earnings for the past four years of the Metro Manila Film Festivals (MMFF) with most of its movies dominated the list of top-grossing films for the past years. A total of nine official entries were fielded by Star Cinema to join the festival for the past four years.
According to Star Cinema in one of its detailed story for the year 2015, the gross earnings of each film entry of Star Cinema is considered as one-of-a-kind achievement for the company and also part of the outfit’s dedication in telling fitting stories fr the Filipino family which contributed to the overall success of the Star Cinema movies.
Out of the total nine top-grossing Star Cinema films, the 2013 comedy “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy,” can boasts a record box office income of more than P436 million, now considered as the country’s top-grossing film of all time.
Another Vice Ganda-starrer, the movie “Sisterakas” featuring Kris Aquino and Ai Ai delas Alas, was the second top-earner with P393 million, followed by “Enteng ng Ina Mo,” at number three, “One More Try” for Number Four is “One More Try” whic features Angel Locsin, Dingdong Dantes, Zanjoe Marudo and Angelica Panganiban.
The other films from Star Cinema which grossed millions of pesos and added to the total gross income of the film outfit are “I Love You Goodbye (2009), “Dalaw” (2010), “Segunda Mano” (2011), and the Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo-starrer “Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay” (2013).
For the year 2014 MMFF entry of Star Cinema, the outfit already garnered more than P400 million for the movie “Praybeyt Benjamin 2” and more than P200 million for “Feng Shui 2” as of press time.
