While admitting that it was his dream to play in PBA, the “She’s Dating the Gangster” said that there is no truth to the statements of AMA that he will be joining their team. “Siyempre po gusto ko maglaro for PBA pero hindi po totoo ang balita,” said Daniel Padilla in text message sent to Spin.ph.

It was on Monday when the news surfaced that the 19-year-old actor was drafted during the 5th Round of the draft although he was not part of the other 153 players who applied for the slot. The news was confirmed by tournament director Eric Castro, saying that he is eligible to play since he is currently enrolled in the school as an IT freshman.

The AMA Titans Coach said also in an interview with Spin that the University’s officials have already talked to Daniel Padilla’s mother, actress Karla Abellana. He added that they have yet to receive a go signal from ABS-CBN where the singer-actor is under contract.

Daniel Padilla is the second celebrity who was given the chance to play in PBA D-league after the award-winning actor Gerald Anderson. However, his fellow kapamilya star has turned down the offer.
