Filipinos all around the world are helping and joining their forces so that Vigan would be in the New 7 Wonder Cities of the World.
Indeed, Vigan really needs more votes online to be able to make it.
Vigan is a fourth class city in the province of Ilocos Sur, Philippines. It is one of the few Hispanic towns left in the Philippines where it’s structures remained intact. It is known for it’s cobblestone and unique architecture that fuses Philippines and Oriental building designs.
Every month, there’s an average of 40,000 tourists are going in Vigan to visit and witness the beauty of the old city. Some tourists says that when they are in Vigan, they felt that the are living back to the old times. As if things are really old as before. Others also said that the city is very unique among other cities in the Philippines.
In fact, it’s only in Vigan where you can see many preserved old houses. Actually, there’s a particular tourist who have decided to live there after his first visit on the city way back in 1987. According to him, the place is less and even not polluted unlike other cities.
So that the culture and traditions as well as it’s physical feature of Vigan will be preserved, here comes the Vigan Conservation Code. They are really making sure that the beauty of Vigan will never change, perhaps it will just develop.
In July 7, 2014, Vigan had been in the top 20 of the New 7 Wonder Cities of the World list among the 1200 cities all over the world. With this, the city still needs more votes to be able to make it in top 14.
