Malaya Watson, the Filipino-American contestant of American Idol who came short on the 13th season of the singing competition after being eliminated once again took the spotlight after she had a duet with Grammy award-winning singer John Legend on the finale of the show.
John Legend opened their number with a sample of his latest single “You & I.” The 35-year-old singer-songwriter then introduced Malaya Watson as they performed his hit song, “All of Me.”
Malaya Watson and John Legend’s duet garnered a standing ovation from American Idol judges; Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. Their performance was described by host Ryan Seacrest as “cool moment.”
Meanwhile, “Malaya and John Legend” landed as trending topic on micro-blogging site, Twitter.The aspiring singer with Filipino roots who hails from Michigan finished eight in the competition. She has been dubbed as crowd’s favorite before she got eliminated.

The star-studded finale of America’s most popular singing competition showcased various performances from Lady Antebellum, Kiss, Lady Antebellum and A.I. Season 11 winner Phillip Philips.
