Goran Dragic Named as NBA’s Most Improved Player of 2014

Goran Dragic of the Phoenix Suns was named as 2014 National Basketball (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation’s Most Improved Player according to the announcement released to the press on Wednesday (US Time). The Phoenix Suns guard was instrumental for the Suns 23-win improvement in the 2013-2014 NBA Season.

The 27-year-old Slovenian international player received 408 of a possible 1,124 points, including 65 first-place votes, from a panel of 126 sportwriters and broadcasters in the United States of America and Canada.

Goran Dragic was able to defeat Indiana Pacers’ Lance Stephenson who scored 158 points, with 13 first-place votes and ranked second over-all in the Most Improved Player award. Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans came in third place with 155 points and 16 first-place votes.

The Slovenian international basketball star  is the only player in the NBA to shoot at least 50 percent from the field and 40% from the three-point range. He entered the 2013-2014 NBA season with a career scoring average of 9.5 points, and averaged a career-best 20.3 points with 5.9 (–foul word(s) removed–)ists and 3.2 rebounds.

Goran Dragic’s performance this season is instrumental in Phoenix Suns turnaround this season on the way to 48-34 record. The Slovenian point guard also played with the Houston Rockets from March-April 2012 but returned to the Phoenix Suns on July signing a 4 year contract worth $30 million.

The Phoenix Suns guard Goran Dragic was also instrumental in Slovenia’s national basketball team in a fifth-place finish during the 2013 European Basketball Championship and earned a spot in the 2014 FIBA World Championship.
