Everything has to end but the fight will not be over.
Ricky Hatton, after his defeat two years ago from the Filipino boxer and currently the reigning pound-per-pound king, Manny “The Pacman” Pacquiao had announced that he will be retiring from boxing at the age of 32 and will focus on running his own promotional company, the “Hatton Promotions.”
With his change of path as a promoter, recently, he was named as the Promoter of the Year in Europe.
Hatton is one of the best fighters in his time. Upon his retirement, he had achieved a promising record of 45 wins and 2 losses wherein 32 of his wins were via knock-out.
After his defeat with Mayweather (2007) and Pacquiao (2009), Hatton went into the turning point in his career as he admitted that it paved way for him to struggle with depression and ending up with alcohol. He further said that depression and alcohol is not a perfect combination. He revealed this on his interview which was posted in his website.
From that interview, he also revealed the struggle he had been through while in depression. He mentioned that coming from two unsuccessful fights was depressing especially after experiencing a “crushing defeat” for the second round with Pacquiao.
Hatton is indeed a good fighter.Before his defeat on 2007 with Floyd Mayweather, Jr., his best fight according to report had happened 2005 when he defeated Kostya Tszyu. At his prime, he had fights against Juan Urango, Luis Collazo and Jose Luis Castillo.
He had exchange fist with Mayweather, Jr. while at some point, he was trained by Mayweather,Sr. for his fight against Pacquiao. Talking to his defeat with Pacquiao, he casted his blame to his overtraining. He said that with the goal of recovering back, he had driven himself to his limit.
Due to his alcoholism, he had engaged himself into rehabilitation facility in order to help himself recover as he looks forward to the success of his promotional company.
