Additional Players for the ‘Team Philippine Azkals’ from Fil-Ams and Fil-Canadians who have Joined the Tryout

Flocking into San Francisco, California are the Filipino-American football players from Canada and other parts of America to join the tryouts conducted by the team ‘Philippine Azkals’ held in Daly City.

Two days tryout at Gellert Park, led by the Azkals’ Team Captain Aly Borromeo and Anton del Rosario.

One of those who joined the tryout Martin Rodil said, “Because I am a Filipino…Playing for a sport that I love, but not only that, but for my country. It is a big reward.”

Another football player Dante Anderson also said, “I have a lot of heart… I could work for them.”

Because the fame of Philippine Azkals Team have reached until America, it is now widely known the success of the team from the newly conducted AFC Challenge Cup group stage.

Also most of the Fil-European and Fil-American players of Azkals became popular to the Filipino fans. This is the very reason why Filipinos were getting more interested in football.

“We are doing progress. We’re working our way right now. Our goal is to make it to the World Cup qualifier. So hopefully, we can do that,” said Borromeo.

In preparation for another competition, the Philippine Azkals is looking for another player to strengthen for the national team.

As a result of the tryout in Daly City, Aly and Anton have seen prospects but they didn’t mention yet their names.

“I was telling the guys who have joined that they’re not just here to try out for any college team. This is the national team. They gotta show more p(–foul word(s) removed–)ion, more determination,” Borromeo said.

The next preparation of the team Philippine Azkals is for the World Cup qualifiers on June 29 against Sri Lanka.
