Strong Quake Returned Japan and Sways Buildings in Tokyo

A strong quake of 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck Japan on Wednesday March 16, 2011.

The ‘US Geological Survey’ said, with the force of 6.0-magnitude is strong enough to sway buildings in Tokyo.

The earthquake hit in the ‘Pacific of Chiba’ prefecture about 96-kilometers or (60-miles) east of the capital.

The earthquake was felt across the large areas of eastern Japan, said the USGS.

There were no reported damages or injuries after the tremor. The quake struck at a shallow 25-kilometers depth at around 12:52 pm (0352 GMT), said the police and local government officials.

Japan meteorological agency warned a possible change in sea levels, but no tsunami warning was issued.

Since 9.0 magnitudes earthquake and tsunami destroyed northern Japan a series of major quakes jolted in the country.

As of Wednesday, the official toll of the missing and dead after a devastating earthquake and tsunami that trodden northeast coast of Japan reaches 11,000 with 3,676 confirmed dead, the police said.
