Liberal Party Execs Released Possible Candidates for Senators in 2016 Elections

The country’s reigning administration party, the Liberal Party of the Philippines (LP) released their possible Senatorial candidates in the upcoming 2016 National Elections. According to an LP executive, Rep. Edgar Erice, the political and electoral affairs chairman of the party, he already listed the possible senatorial slate of the administration party for the 2016 polls.

Two of the most notable names included in the possible lists of senatorial candidates are Justice Secretary Leila De Lima and Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo.

When the LP executive was asked about the administration party’s ticket, Rep. Erice noted that the safe answer includes Sen. Frankllin Drilon, Sen. Ralph Recto, Sen. TG Guingona and Food Security and Agricultural Modernization Secretary Secretary Kiko Pangilinan.

The LP official also listed the following as possible senatorial bets:

Former Pangasinan Rep. Rachel Arenas
Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo
Former Pampanga Gov. Mark Lapid
Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno
Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Francis Tolentino
Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla
Las Piñas Rep. Mark Villar

Although the Liberal Party executive released an initial list of candidates, he clarified that the LP is still in talks with its coalition partners and the senatorial line-up is not yet final.

During the past week, President Aquino already endorsed DILG Secretary Mar Roxas the presidential candidate of the Liberal Party for the 2016 national elections.
