The son of Gary V, Gab Valenciano has been nominated in one of the world’s most prestigious awards, the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards for his contribution to Beyonce’s music video for “7/11.” The son of “Mr. Pure Energy” Gary V., is listed as one of the nominees for Best Choreography, alongside Beyonce and Chris Grant.
Gab Valenciano and his peers are competing against world-renowned choreographers such such as OK Go, air:man and Mori Harano (OK Go’s “I Won’t Let You Down”); Ryan Heffington (Chet Faker’s Gold); Nappy Tabs (Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t”); and Keone and Mari Madrid (Flying Lotus’ “Never Catch Me”).
The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, which is hosted by the controversial singer Miley Cyrus, will be held this coming August 30, 2015.
According to some reports, the viral video of Gab Valenciano titled “super selfie” served as an inspiration to Beyonce’s hit music video, which sees her dancing around what appears to be a hotel in a sweatshirt and underwear.
Gab Valenciano’s Super Selfie video went viral online for the past few months and right now it has accumulated more than 2.4 million views on YouTube while the viral video of Beyonce titled “7/11” already garnered more than 240 million views on YouTube.
