The country’s lone representative to the Winter Olympics, Michael Christian Martinez won the gold medal in the Triglav Trophy 2015 in Slovenia on Sunday. The Filipino figure skater is just one of the world’s most popular figure skaters who participated in the compeition.
Michael Christian Martinez finished first in free skaing and fifth in short program to garner 181.84 points and best his other six competitors who hails from South Korea, Italy, Georgia and Austria.
During the 2014 edition of the figure skating competition, Michael Christian Martinez achieved the feat and won a gold in the same tournament.
Right after the achievement of the lone Winter Olympian from the Philippines during the year 2014 Winter Olympics, Martinez posted some photos of himself on his offiicial Facebook page.
The Filipino figure skater is the first from Southeast Asia and from a tropical country to qualify for the Winter Olympics and only one to represent the Philippines in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
