The Upper House of the Philippine Congress, the Philippine Senate will carefully study the proposed special tax incentive for the Filipino boxing icon and future hall of famer Rep. Manny Pacquiao, once it is filed in Congress as revealed by by Sen. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara on Monday, March 2, 2015.
The proposed tax exemption grand for Manny Pacquiao was initiated by a senator from Mindanao, Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III as part of the government’s effort to inspire the Filipino boxing icon on his incoming fight with the world’s best pound-for-pound boxer, the undefeated American boxer, Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao will slugged it out in the highly anticipated mega-fight this coming May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand of Las Vegas, Nevada USA, the mecca of boxing in the world.
According to Sen. Pimentel on his explanation why he come up with the proposal to exempt Manny Pacquiao from tax obligations, he noted that Manny Pacquiao needed all the support and inspiration he could get for his fight against Mayweather, which the boxing world have been asking since the year 2009.
The Malacanang Palace on their part did not comment on the issue of Manny Pacquiao’s tax exemption as they noted that it will be up to the Congress and the Bureau of Internal Revene to consider the proposed tax exemption.
