Sarah G. Explained Her Reasons of Saving Monique Lualhati Over Kokoi Baldo

The Voice of the Philippines coach Sarah Geronimo turned emotional during her announcement of who among Monique Lualhati and Kokoi Baldo who will move on to the semifinals of the country’s top-trending and top-rating singing competition on national TV. According to Sarah Geronimo she decided to chose Monique Lualhati because she believes that young singer wanted to pursue her dreams.

During Sarah Geronimo’s announcement of who among Kokoi and Monique will move on the next round, the Popstar Princess hesitated several times, and she could no longer hold her tears when fellow coach Lea Salonga held her to comfort and encourage her.

During the previous episodes of The Voice of the Philippines bot Kokoi Baldo and Monique Lualhati were considered as top vote-getters. The Sunday’s episode of The Voice Ph, the audience witness for the very first time that both Monique and Kokoi landed in the bottom two for Team Sarah Geronimo.

Sarah Geronimo finally made a decision and she announced that she will save Monique Lualhati while Kokoi Baldo ends his journey in the competition.

One of the reason why Coach Sarah chose Monique Lualhati was because of Kokoi Baldo’s statement during the March 31 live episodes of The Voice, Kokoi Baldo turned emotional as Geronimo gave her feedback of his rendition of Mishka’s “Love and Devotion,” which Kokoi chose to show his devotion to nature and to his craft.

Coach Sarah recalled a meeting with Kokoi Baldo and the rest of Team Sarah: Sinabi ninyo sa akin nung nagmi-meeting tayo… Kasi binibigyan namin si Sir Kokoi ng popular na kanta, pero sinabi niya, ‘Hindi ako sumali sa ‘The Voice of the Philippines’ para makipag-compete. Sumali ako to share my music dahil ang music ay simbolo ng unity.’ Kaya manalo, matalo, ang gusto niya lang ay mag-iwan lang ng mensahe, ‘yung mensahe na ‘yun sa competition na ito. And for that, sobra ho ang pagmamahal ko sa inyo bilang artist.”
