Harvard-graduate and Ilonggo-speaking lawmaker, Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago revealed on Thursday that a coup d’etat is brewing President Aquino in the aftermath of the Mamasapano incident. Sen. Santiago claimed that the alleged coup is being financed by a “very rich man.”
The revelation of the former Presidential aspirant and current Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago was made during the day 3 of the Senate investigation into the botched police operations that cost the lives of the 44 fallen PNP-SAF troopers.
Sen. Santiago was quoted as saying “Social media is rife with gossip that there could be a coup d’etat attack against President Aquino,” she said.
The Senator noted that she got some intelligence report and stated “I have intelligence that leaders of alphabet soup acronym… have a recent meeting because they wanted to discuss how to stage coup who should be installed as President, and even their contributors were there.” she said.
The alleged coup attempt intelligence report against President Aquio was also confirmed by the Department of National Defense (DND) through Secretary Voltaire Gazmin.
Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin noted that the intelligence community of the Armed Forces of the Philippines were still in the process of verifying the reports of the supposed plot against the current administration.
Aside from Sen. Santiago, the Magdalo lawmakers in the Lower House already noted that grievances in the Armed Forces and the police should be addressed to prevent a coup attempt with the country’s uniformed personnel.
