Couple Who Are Being Separate by Their Parents End Their Lives in Sultan Kudarat
A couple, 14 and 29 years old, end their lives after they were being separated by the girl’s parents in Sultan Kudarat.
The 29-year-old guy and his 14-year-old roommate reportedly committed suicide jointly in their modest home in Barangay Pamantingan in the town of Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat. They were identified as Ronald Labina and Johanna Saliling, both of whom are of Teduray ancestry.
Based on the report, they were discovered dead by a relative who was supposed to remind Saliling, a Grade 8 student, of a task at school. The parents of Saliling are adamantly opposed to her connection with Labina, according to Teduray tribal chiefs who spoke to reporters on condition of anonymity on Thursday.
Due to the fact that their daughter was a juvenile, they had even threatened to file a statutory rape case against him. After forensic specialists had examined the location and recorded the incident, the Esperanza Municipal Police Station reported to the Police Regional Office 12 that the families of Labina and Saliling came forward right away to claim their bodies.
Teenage marriages are accepted in Teduray society. Members of tribal councils in Esperanza and the nearby Maguindanao del Sur town of Ampatuan claimed that Saliling’s parents had wanted her to complete high school and enroll in a four-year college program.
