In fact, he claimed, his client was waiting for the subpoena that the Department of Justice (DOJ) was expected to issue in connection with the relevant case. Balisong promised that everything would be resolved, whether it be criminal or administrative, so that we may be vindicated once and for all.

“We would like to announce that he will be participating, he will be cooperating in this case to clear his name. He really wants the complaint against him to be accepted,” Balisong said in a television interview.

“Whether criminal or administrative, everything will be dealt with so that once and for all we can be cleared and know the whole truth,” said the lawyer.

Bantag was recently added to the list of 160 people with information on the case when it came to light during the investigation that he had been among individuals Lapid had insulted on his radio show. The attorney further guaranteed that after receiving the subpoena in the case, they will submit a counter-affidavit.

As previously mentioned, self-described gunman Joel Escorial revealed that one of the two alleged “middlemen” in the case admitted to him that Cristito or Jun Villamor Palaa Bantag had ordered him to kill Lapid. Escorial claimed that Villamor was the one who approached him about killing the seasoned journalist.

But on October 18, four hours after Escorial was revealed to the world, Villamor passed away. Lapid was shot and killed on the evening of October 3 close to the BF Resort Village gate.
