The Gilas Pilipinas national basketball team will face South Korea in the second game of the round-robin Quarter Finals of the Asian Games held in the hometown of the Koreans. The Philippines will face one of its toughest rival in Asia, the South Koreans, the team that started the Korean curse for the past years. The Filipinos ended the Korean curse in Manila but right now the Philippines needs to win against the Koreans to keep their dream alive.

The Philippines suffered a back-to-back lost in the Asian games after they were first defeated by Asian powerhouse Iran, and yesterday, the Qatar national basketball team also defeated the Filipinos in a devastating fashion.
The South Koreans also won yesterday against the previously unbeaten Kazakhstan as they dominated the West Asian team with the final score at 77-60, and now leading the Group H of the quarterfinals.
During yesterday’s game against Kazakhstan, the South Koreans was led by Oh Sekuen who scored with 16 points and grabbed six big rebounds while Kim Taesul added 12 points for South Korea, one of the team that was seeded before the preliminary round of the Asian Games Men’s Basketball tournament.
With the win of the South Koreans, the Gilas Pilipinas squad needs to win its remaining matches and hope that South Korea and Qatar drop a game in the quarterfinals so that the Filipinos can secure a shot at the semi-finals and forced a return bout against Iran, the team that defeated Gilas Pilipinas on Friday.
