Philippine Air Force Receives First Batch of Refurbished Huey Helicopters

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) received the first batch of refurbished UH1H or the popular helicopters delivered by a joint venture of American and Canadian firms. The first four of the 21 ordered Huey helicopters arrived in the Philippines in time, or a month before the anniversary of the Philippine Air Force.

According to Defense Secretary Votaire Gazmin noted that the four Huey helicopters delivered to the country was delivered by the joint venture of American firm Rice Aircraft Services Inc. and the Canadian company Eagle Copters Ltd., the two companies who won the contract to supply the 21 Huey helicopters to the PAF.

Right now the newly acquired Huey Helicopters of the Philippine Air Force are being assembled at the Clark Air Base in Angeles City, Pampanga. Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin noted further that the PAF hopes the three Huey helicopters by July while the remaining 14 helicopters may be delivered before the end of the year.

The 21 ordered Huey helicopters of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) will be used to augment the Philippines air assets, PAF currently has at least 19 operational Huey helicopter. The acquisition of the refurbished Huey helicopters will boost the capability of the PAF in relief operations and internal security.

The 21 refurbished Huey helicopters of the Philippine Air Force is part of the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The Philippine Air Force (PAF) will celebrate its 67th founding anniversary which will be held at the Clark Air Base in Pampanga this coming July 1, 2014.
