Cynthia Patag Apologized for Calling Yolanda Survivors as “Squatters”

Singer-actress Cynthia Patag deleted her Facebook post on Tuesday and apologized for calling Yolanda survivors as squatters. Her Facebook post went viral immediately after it was shared by netizens not only on Facebook but also on Twitter.

On the latest Facebook post of Cynthia Patag she stated that “I deleted 2 posts, the 2nd was a repost, wherein I mentioned the Yolanda victims in Tacloban who where given bunk houses, were dissatisfied with the accommodations. It was insensitive and I’m sorry.” she said.

Cynthia Patag made a name for herself during the days of the comedy show, “Palibhasa Lalake,” now of the top-rating shows of ABS-CBN featuring former hunk actors, Richard Gomez, Joey Marquez, and John Estrada to name a few.

The former comeidan, stated during her earlier post that the victims of Yolanda were used to be squatters.

She posted the following on her Facebook:

Nagrereklamo ang mga Yolanda victims dahil mas maganda ang Camp Crame detention centers para kay Sen. Revilla at Sen. Etrada kesa sa bunk houses the DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) built for them for free? To begin with, they used to be squatters! Whose camp is stoking the flames of collective outrage vs. the Pnoy (Aquino) administration here? Incredible.” she posted.

Although the post was already deleted by Cynthia Patag, netizens already screen captured the statement made by Patag and post it on various social media sites and became one of the hottest trending topics online.

Cynthia Patag got the ire of some netizens but there are other commenters who accepted and welcomed the apology of the actress and comediene.
