Here’s the statement from the camp of VP Leni Robredo regarding the recent Cebu Pacific issue
The office of Vice President Leni Robredo released a statement regarding the accusation against her made by Cebu Pacific pilot Van Ranoa.
In a Facebook Post, Ranoa accused the Vice President of demanding a priority landing as she was landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport from a campaign event in the South last month.
The pilot said that the “Code 1” was inappropriate because VP Leni was from a sortie and not an official trip. Ranoa also claimed that flights were diverted and some passengers missed their connecting flights because of this “inconvenience.”
In a second statement, Cebu Pacific stated that the pilot admitted that his claims were baseless and they were just “speculative.” The airline company apologized to the current second-highest government official.
Following this, the office of the Vice President released a statement denying the claim of Ranoa, based on the report from ABS-CBN. The statement stressed that Robredo did not request priority landing for a flight she was on.
“This never happened and is a malicious fabrication,” the camp of VP Leni stressed. The statement added that in the entire time that Robredo is serving as the Vice President of the Philippines, there was no single moment when she asked to be prioritized when it comes to her trips.
Her camp also aired frustration that even a week after the election, malicious rumors are still being fabricated against the Vice President. “VP Leni reiterates her commitment to take firm steps against disinformation and promote truthful public discourse,” the office of Vice President Leni Robredo stressed.
