Foul play has been ruled out by police following the death of Filipino-American model Helena Belmonte who fell off a building in Ortigas on Thursday, March 20.
In a phone interview with INQUIRER.net on Friday, Police Officer 3 Lawrence Punzalan said that they were confident Helena Belmonte committed suicide.
“There was a note left on the scene. Parang may sinisisi siyang tao,” Punzalan said.
Pasig City Crime Laboratory have yet to confirm if the fingerprints and the penmanship on the note were indeed Helena’s.
The 28-year-old model has also posted a series of tweets hinting she wanted to end her life.
Helena’s godmother, Sari Yap, earlier revealed that the model suffered from a mental illness called “bipolar disorder” since she was seven years old.
It was earlier reported that before the incident, the victim, her boyfriend and a female friend went to a party. A police report said that after they arrived at Helena’s condominium unit, the boyfriend and the female friend left, leaving the model alone. Upon returning, they noticed that Helena was gone and then found her body on the roof deck.
On the other hand, Officer Punzalan said that the tragic death of Helena Belmonte deeply distressed her boyfriend.
“Her boyfriend was crying hard. He was so traumatized that we were not able to get clear statements about what happened,” he said.
Though Punzalan refused to reveal the identity of Helena’s boyfriend, previous articles have disclosed that the model’s boyfriend was art collector-businessman Marcel Crespo.
The remains of Helena Belmonte were initially brought to Quioge Funeral Parlor in Pasig City but were later transferred to Arlington Memorial Chapel as requested by her relatives.
Her mother, Joan Lorraine Belmonte (Vice President and creative director of One Mega Group Inc. – former Mega Publishing Group), was expected to arrive from United States.
