The decision of the 6’6 big man to stay in the FEU camp was bared by Coach Nash Racela.
“He made a decision to stay with FEU,” said Racela, referring to the junior’s stalwart. (statement from Spin.ph)
The younger Escoto, brother of the Tamaraws’ Russel will bolster the the Morayta-based squad, which lost key players Terrence Romeo and RR Garcia and missed out commitment of promising rookie recently.
The 16-year old Escoto averaged 8.9 points and team-high 9.8 rebounds for the baby Tamaraws who finished fourth last season. His team also captured the junior’s crown in 2012.
However, the inclusion of the young center in the line up is still uncertain as he is set to suit up for the Fiba Under-17 championships in Dubai and might also be chosen to play for Under-18 team that will also compete in this year’s under-18 tournament.
Both of the major Fiba competitions will conflict the UAAP schedule as the under-17 and the under-18 championships will be held on August.
Escoto and the under-16 team qualified for the World Cup after finishing second to China last year.
