Chiz Escudero’s Personal Background
Born on October 10, 1969 in Manila, Francis “Chiz” Escudero is the middle child among the three (3) children of the late Salvador “Sonny” Escudero III and Dr. Evelyn B Guevara-Escudero. Both his parents had political careers with his late father being a former representative of the 1st district of Sorsogon during the Marcos era and his mother who also been a representative of the province’s 1st district.
Chiz took his elementary and secondary education at the University of the Philippines Integrated School. In college, he studied Political Education at the University of the Philippines-Diliman (UP-Diliman). He took Bachelor of Laws at the University of the Philippine College of Law. He was a consistent honor student in U.P.
In 1999, he married Christine Elizabeth Flores and they have twin children – Ma. Cecilia Escudero and Joaquin Escudero. They separated in 2011 and the kids remained with the politician. In 2015, he married actress Heart Evangelista.
Chiz Escudero’s Political Career
It was in 1912 when Chiz joined the political arena when he ran as councilor of Casiguran town and won. He also became the mayor of the town, a provincial member, and governor. In 2007, he ran for Senate and was elected with the second highest votes. He ran for re-election in 2012 and won. In 2016, he ran for vice president but lost. He took the political race for Sorsogon governor during the 2019 midterm election and won.
