La Salle Juniors Standout Renzo Subido to Suit up For UST This Season

The longing of University of Sto. Tomas for a real point guard might finally come to an end as blue-chip rookie Renzo Subido will most likely play for the Growling tigers this season.

The development was confirmed by his Father, Henry Subido in an interview at Spin.ph. The elder Subido revealed the big possibility that his son, a star guard of La Salle juniors, is going to play college ball for UST.

“Renzo has been practicing with the UST since December. So far, Renzo has been getting positive response from the coaches,” he said. (Statement from Spin.ph)

The young Subido is a standout in the UAAP juniors. He led the league in scoring averaging 20.1 points per game. His tournament high is a 32-point performance.

Though under the UAAP two-year residency rule, the 5’8 guard will have no conflict with the regulation as his Father also bared that they were (–foul word(s) removed–)ured by his son’s coaches with a release that will make him legitimate to play right in the season 77.

The move of the prolific junior archer guard to the Espana-based squad will definitely a big addition for UST, which had struggles last season without a natural play maker after the lost of ace point guard Jeric Fortuna.

The impending transfer of Subido will also replicate the move that Fortuna did in 2008, which turned out a good one as the diminutive point guard has had a successful career as a tiger.
