After the Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss Earth, the Miss International 2013 is underway, considered as the last major beauty pageant of the year. The event will return to Japan which will feature a star-studded ceremony.
Japan first hosted the Miss International during the year 1968 after seven years of being held in Long Beach, California, United States of America (U.S.A.).
The Miss International is part of the Big Four International Beauty Pageants – Miss World (1951), Miss Universe (1952), Miss Earth (2001) and Miss International (1960). Although the Miss Universe and the Miss World are more popular among the four, all the four pageants are considered as the most coveted titles in international beauty pageant.
According to the official website of the Miss International, the pageant is not based on looks alone like its counterparts Miss Universe and Miss World. “The contestants are expected to serve as ‘amb(–foul word(s) removed–)adors of peace and beauty, ‘showing tenderness, benevolence, friendship, beauty, intelligence, ability to take action, and most importantly a great international sensibility,” the Website stated.
The Philippines candidate to the Miss International 2013, Miss Bea Rose Santiago is considered as one of the heavy favorite to win the beauty pageant.
