The former president and currently Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada correlate himself to the father of Philippine revolution Andres Bonifacio as marked the hero’s 150th birth anniversary at Bonifacio Shrine, Manila, Saturday, November 30, 2013.
In a privilege speech by Mayor Estrada, he specified that Bonifacio and himself were both raised in Tondo, Manila with the same era on cultural shows as stage performers/ actors, Estrada portraying the role of ”Asiong Salonga” while Bonifacio portrayed the folk hero Bernardo Carpio o in a stage play and adding that both of them are born to be leaders of the nation.
Estrada was oust form the position as president in 2001 and was prevailed by Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for plunder case which lead to detention. Meanwhile, Andres Bonifacio, the supreme leader or “supremo” of the Katipunan movement, was also oust from the position, arrested and convicted and was killed in Maragondon Cavite as succeeded by Lazaro Macapagal, commanding officer of the execution party.
Wreath-laying ceremony was been concluded with the presence of VP Jejomar Binay and Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada. Meanwhile, President Benigno Aquino III lead the wreath-laying ceremony at Bonifacio Shrine Caloocan who compliment the great contribution of Andres Bonifacio fighting for independence.
