NYC Deploys Undercover Asian Police Team To Fight Hate-Crime Surge
NYC DEPLOYS UNDERCOVER ASIAN POLICE – Several states in the U.S. reported increased amount of racially charged attacks against Asians.
Among the most notable attacks was on an old Chinese lady that was trying to cross the street. However, instead of backing down, she fought back with a plank she picked up and beat the attacker bloody.
Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case with most if these attacks. As such, New York City plans to launch an all-Asian undercover police force. Furthermore, the city wanted to widen its community outreach in over 200 languages.
According to an article from Inquirer, City Police Commissioner Dermot Shea warned attackers: “If you are going to commit a hate crime in New York City, we will find you“. Moreover, he emphasized that NYC won’t tolerate attacks due to the color of their skin, religion, and their sexual preference.
Following the surge in Asian hate crimes, Shea noted that the NYPD was ramping up its undercover forcer with plain-clothes officers, all of Asian descent. As per the article, the undercover Asian police team would patrol subways, grocery stores, and other key areas to prevent anti-Asian hate crimes.
Just in 2020 alone, hate crimes against Asian Americans surged by 149% in 16 major cities compared to 2019. Recently, the most gruesome anti-Asian hate crime was reported in Atlanta.
Here, a 21-year-old white man went on a shooting spree at three spas. His rampage left eight people dead, 6 of which were Asian women. Following the attack, authorities charged the man with multiple counts of murder.
