MMDA Receives New Ferry Boat For Pasig River Ferry Service
MMDA – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) received a new ferry boat for its Pasig River Ferry Service operations.
According to a report from Inquirer, the boat was donated by the New San Jose Builders, Inc. in a turnover ceremony which was held at the Guadalupe Ferry Station in Makati.
The agency’s chairman Benhur Abalos thanked the NSJBI, which was headed by its Chairman Jose Acuzar, for donating the boat, which he said was “expected to augment the shortage of ferry boats for our day-to-day operations.”
Abalos also said that he aimed to double the ferry boats to shorten the waiting time of one hour to 30 mins in order to encourage more passengers.
The chair also plans to add more routes to the ferry service that will link the Manila Bay, Pasig River, and Laguna Lake.
Deputy chairman and PRFS head Frisco San Juan, Jr. said that the service is set to reopen three existing ferry stations in Maybunga in Pasig City, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and Lambingan in Manila
Based on the report, construction is also underway for three more ferry stations in Quinta Market, Manila; Circuit Makati; and Kalawaan in Pasig City..
