Pregnant Woman Killed After Struck By Mortar In Maguindanao
MORTAR IN MAGUINDANAO – A pregnant woman was killed after getting struck by mortar in Barangay Pusao, Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao.
The incident occurred at 10 PM, according to the victim’s in-law Mursid Mamolintao, based on the report by GMA’s Balitambayan.
Mamolintao, the military unleashed a mortar, prompting the people in the area to run. The bomb struck the victim in the neck. She was seven months pregnant.
The victim, identified as Rabiyah Damada Lakim was taken to the Maguindanao Provincial Hospital but was unable to reah there alive.
Tensions rise in the area due to the exchanges of fires between the military and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters or BIFF.
Mamolintao pleaded the authorities to stop the conflict in their area to prevent civilian casualties and incidents such as this.
Six individuals were previously struck by mortar in Datu Salibo in the province, based on the report.
Among the injured include 2 children. The six were identified as Adam Tumbe, aged 15; Mama M Nano, aged 44, Saad Tumbe, aged 6; Hamdan Kusain, aged 20 ; Haris Abdulkarim, aged 36; and Zahra Mea, aged 8.
Rebels blasted the Bravo Company of the 6th Infantry Battalion with a rifle grenade in Barangay Sambolawan when they first attacked Datu Piang on December 4.
