The University of the East Red Warriors ended their Season 76 of the UAAP Men’s basketball tournament with a positive note, after they defeated the winless UP Fighting Maroons with the final score at 76-73.
Red Warriors graduating basketball star Lord Casajeros hit a clutch three-pointer and made a brilliant (–foul word(s) removed–)ists to teammate Adi Santos as the UE reclaimed the lead with just 24 seconds to go in the final period, ending the comeback of the Maroons from a 16 points deficit in the third quarter.
The UE Red Warriors, one of the early favorites in the competition finished their season with a 7-7 win-loss record while the UP Fighting Maroons suffered one of their worst season in the UAAP with 0-14 in team standing.
Charles Mammie of the UE Red Warriors dominated the frontline by pouring out 21 points and grabbing 18 rebounds while Casajeros finished with 17 points in his final game in the UAAP.
Raul Soyud of the UP Fighting Maroons led his team in the fourth quarter scoring 10 out of his 15 points total, while Sam Marata scored a game-high 22 points for the Fighting Maroons.
