The Gilas Pilipinas boys of the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters led the rest of the squad as they defeated the GlobalPort Batang Pier on Sunday night, ending their two-game losing streak with the final score at 102-95.
Talk ‘N Text import Tony Mitchell scored with 35 points while Gilas mainstay Larry Fonacier, Jayson Castro and Ranidel de Ocampo combined for 44 points to help the Tropang Texters snap a two-game losing streak.
With the Talk ‘N Text win they improved their record to 2-2 win-loss card after they overcame a tough challenge from Batang Pier. The Tropang Texters was up by 13 points, 98-85 with just 3 minutes left in the game. The Batang Pier made a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to 5 points with just 36 points left but their effort was not enough for a win.
Talk ‘N Text is expected to get another boost with the return of team captain Jimmy Alapag, who is set to arrive in Manila from a vacation in the United States on Tuesday.
