Philippine Air Force (PAF) Receives 4 Brazilian Attack Planes
PHILIPPINE AIR FORCE – Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the Philippine Air Force received four (4) fighter planes from Brazil.
The Philippine Air Force (PAF) is a branch of the Armed Forces of The Philippines’ (AFP) aerial warfare service. The agency is responsible for defending the country’s airspace. They also conduct combat air patrols, tactical operations, close air support, and other aerial operations throughout the country.
Air Force Strategy Management Office’s (AFSMO) Flight Plan 2028 aims to improve the capability of PAF to intercept, identify, neutralize, and detect intrusions in the Philippine Air defense Identification Zone (PADIZ).
In a Facebook post on Sunday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that the PAF received fighter planes from Empresa Brasiliera de Aeronautica of Brazil. The Brazilian aerospace conglomerate’s 4 units of Close Air Support Aircraft (A-29 Super Tucano) arrived at Clark International Airport on Saturday.
“Four fighter planes arrived yesterday, 19 September 2020, at the Clark International Airport and two more will arrive in the coming week. An official arrival ceremony is being organized,” the agency said.

The DFA said two more fighter planes will be arriving this week. The agency said an official ceremony is being organized.
“The A-29B Super Tucano aircraft is designed for light attack, close air support, counter-insurgency, and aerial reconnaissance missions in low threat environments. Additionally, the said aircraft is designed to operate in high temperature and humidity conditions in extremely rugged terrain similar to the country’s operational environment,” DFA said.
The delivery of the fighter planes is part of AFP’s Modernization Program. The Brazilian aerospace conglomerate Embraer SA, is the 3rd largest producer of civil aircraft.
