A Pinay model is representing the latest campaign of Marc Jacobs
International fashion brand Marc Jacobs featured Pinay model Dominique Castelano for its latest campaign.
Another name is added to the list of Filipina models who made it in the international modeling scene. Previously, the name of Kelsey Merritt made a loud buzz as she became the first-ever Pinay who was able to walk on Victoria’s Secret’s runway.
Just recently, a new name surfaced in the fashion industry. Her name is Dominique Castelano. She became the face of the latest campaign of Marc Jacobs and she talked about her experienced with Preview Magazine.
In 2017, Dominique started her full-time modeling career after she signed with New York-based agency Q Management. She said that modeling has been a roller coaster for her.
“I started by booking a few editorials for magazines and really have had to work from the ground up. Recently I became the first openly trans Pinay person to appear in an advertisement for Maybelline, a major makeup brand sold worldwide,” she shared.
Her biggest break so far is when she became the new face of Marc Jacobs’ latest clothing line called Heaven. This aims to celebrate people’s gender preferences whatever they choose to become.
The Pinay model shared that she was able to have this stint through the help of her photographer, Ryan McGinley.
“Ryan is an icon in the Queer community and I constantly enjoy working with him. Along with Marc Jacobs, I’ve appeared in campaigns for Thom Browne, Milly, and NY-based designers that are really rooted in the queer and POC (persons of color) community, like Patrick Church, Mi Leggett, and Tia Adeola,” Dominique shared.
Aside from being focused on her modeling career, the Pinay model is also actively participating in efforts that celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. This has become also a venue for her to meet notable personalities in the world of fashion and that included Marc Jacobs.
Based on the article, Dominique also revealed that she will be with Marc Jacobs next year. This is for an event and benefits will be given to a nonprofit organization that serves to help homeless youth since 1984 and it called Streetworks.
