The University of the East (UE) Red Warriors made a significant comeback against the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers and win with the final score at 85-83 during the Saturday’s match at the SM MOA.
During the first two quarters of the game between the Green Archers and the Red Warriors, it was a close encounter ending with just a four point lead in favor of La Salle, 43-39 at the end of first the first half.
The Green Archers managed to pull away at the start of the fourth quarter extending their lead to 10 points at 68-58 with only 8 minutes to go in the ballgame. Turn-overs of the Green Archers took a tool on their game and they experienced cold shooting which allowed the UE To trim the lead in the last few minutes of the game.
UE’s Roi Sumang made an enormous performance and managed to score a total of 5 straight points and tied the game at 73-all with only 3 minutes left in the ballgame. The Green Archers took the lead again with a 4-point lead with over a minute, 81-77, but another 5-0 capped off by a three-pointer by Ralf Olivarez shifted the lead back to the Red Warriors.
Although the Warriors was holding a 3-poing lead but La Salle’s Luigi dela Paz hit a long tw0-pointer with only 17 seconds left. Olivarez was then fouled and split his charities to give UE an 85-83 lead.
Roi Sumang lead the Red Warriors with a total of 21 points, Charles Mammie and Olivarez contributed with 19 points and 18 points respectively while Almond Vosotros on the other hand lead the DLSU Green Archers with 21 points.
