Doctor Who Infected 2 Other Doctors In Silay City To Be Issued Show Cause Memo
SILAY CITY – Negros Occidental governor Eugenio Lacson mandated Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II to issue a show cause memo to a doctor who infected 2 fellow doctors in Silay City.
According to TV Patrol Negros, the said doctor was also working at Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital and infected a 70-year-old patient.
Provincial administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz also added that the same doctor was also on duty at Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, and infected 2 fellow doctors.
The said hospital said that it cannot accommodate patients as of the moment in order to disinfect its facilities.
Diaz added that 9 pedia doctors are unable to be on duty until the results of their swab tests are released.
Contact tracing still continued in order for patients and staff in hospitals, where the doctor was on duty to undergo RT-PCR.
Based on the report, Diaz said that the doctor disregarded the memorandum that Gov. issued 2 weeks ago. The said memorandum warned doctors who are working at provincial hospitals not to “hospital hopping” (transferring from one hospital to the other, or “island hopping” but on hospitals).
This is in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The incident ended up in the temporary closure of Bacolod Queen of Mercy’s Out-Patient Department in order to disinfect.
