Bato Says He Is Getting His Visa Back After Receiving Call From US Embassy
BATO VISA ISSUED – Senator Bato dela Rosa said the US Embassy called him saying that he would be getting his Visa back.
Back in January, Dela Rosa confirmed that his Visa was canceled. Meanwhile, speculations regarding the cancellation of his Visa include his involvement in President Duterte’s War on Drugs and alleged Human Rights violations.

Dela Rosa added that the US Embassy told him that he should just re-apply if he wanted to get his Visa back. However, if he decided to do that, there are still two US laws that bars the travel of human rights violators.
But, on Wednesday, Bato said that following President Duterte’s phone call with US President Donald Trump, he received a call from the US Embassy.
He said the Embassy called him regarding his Visa. According to an article from Inquirer, he said:
After mag-usap si President Duterte at si President Trump tinawagan ako ng US Embassy na asikasuhin ko yung visa ko
Furthermore, he added that the embassy said his visa issue would get settled when the COVID-19 issue subsides and embassy staff could report back to the office.
In January, Bato’s Visa cancellation issue became a huge deal for President Duterte. He gave the US government 30 days to undo his Visa cancellation or he would sever the two-decade-old Visiting Forces Agreement.
On February, the Philippines had officially discontinued the agreement. However, the government suspended the termination due to the coronavirus pandemic.
