Earn P3K By Making Fake Accounts – Troll Farm Initiative?
FAKE ACCOUNTS – A netizen showed a screenshot of a person enticing people to earn P3K just by making fake accounts.
Following the protests against the controversial “Anti Terror Bill”, several fake accounts of activists were created. After a few days, this trend echoed throughout the country with netizens seeing douplegangers of themselves online.
Worse, some netizens reported that the fake accounts made in their name were filled with pro NPA content. As such, some fear that this initiative would be used as an “online tanim-ebidensya” to justify the arrests of government critics.
Previously, there had been reports that over $200K were used to pay troll farms to spread fake news and push government propaganda in the Philippines. This was backed up by several screenshots of conversations of those troll farms hiring others.
Recently, a similar conversation was uploaded by a netizen that showed an alleged troll farm’s attempt to hire people to their camp.
The conversation read:
“Sir baka po gusto nyu extra income? hehe..
Gagawa lang po kayo duplicate account sa fb ng kahit sino 3k a day po”.
Hundreds of duplicate accounts have been popping up in social media. Mostly, the duplicate accounts are of people who are actively criticizing or opposing the new Anti Terrorism Bill.
Then, these accounts send threats to the original account holder. Aside from this, they also boast of knowing where the original account holder lives, works, or the school they go to.
But, with the given conversations, Netizen Juancho Agoncillio said that the duplicate accounts are nothing but distractions and are nothing to worry about.
Still, the accounts pose are very serious threat to security as it could potentially be used as “evidence” under the new anti terrorism law if ever it would be passed.
